新加坡國土面積719.1平方公里，總人口553.5萬，是典型的城市國家，農業用地只集中在西北部極小範圍的短期租約小型農地供人們種植葉菜及生鮮蛋，以及沿海少數深水魚養殖場。超過90%的各類食品依靠進口，食品來源自世界各地，包括鄰近的馬來西亞，泰國，中國等亞洲諸國，澳洲，新西蘭及遠自南北美洲及歐洲。
作為過度依靠食品進口的城市島國來說，食品安全扮演十分重要的角色。食品從離開工廠，抵達港口，再配送到最終用戶的餐桌之前，必須要確保一個全程不間斷的冷鏈系統之中，在這系統過程中溫差的變動要求嚴格，以確保食品的安全水準。
新加坡有許許多多冷藏及冷凍肉類的進口商，絕大多數都具備冷藏或冷凍庫設備，近幾年來新的凍肉貿易商如雨後春筍般的冒出來，造成競爭過於激烈，導致利潤稀薄，為了繼續生存，部分貿易商開始或已經轉型集中在其他食品相關的行業，例如提供給超市的肉類深加工產品，有者轉向提供冷凍倉儲服務及第三方冷鏈物流服務商。個案公司就是從傳統的冷凍肉類貿易商成功轉型為第三方物流服務商的例子。
本研究對個案公司做了詳細深入的探討，包括如何利用所具備的市場經驗，先進的硬體設施，高功能的軟件系統，市場策略，人才利用等等從而突顯新加坡中小企業在這狹小的市場如何延續生產進而壯大。

Singapore has a land area of 719.1 square kilometers and a total population of 5.535 million. It is a typical urban country. Agricultural land is concentrated in small-scale short-term tenancies in the northwest for small-scale agricultural land for farmers to grow leafy vegetables and fresh eggs farming, as well as a few deep-water fish farms along the coast. More than 90% of all types of food are imported, and food is sourced from all over the world, including neighboring Malaysia, Thailand, China and other Asian countries, Australia, New Zealand and far from South and North America and Europe.
As an island nation that relies excessively on food imports, food safety plays a very important role. Before the foods are leaving the factory, arriving at the port, and then distributing it to the end user, it is necessary to ensure a continuous cold chain system in which the temperature difference is strictly controlled to ensure the safety of the food.
There are many importers of chilled and frozen meat in Singapore. Most of them have chilled or freezer equipment. In recent years, new frozen meat traders have sprung up, causing too fierce competition, resulting in thin profits. To survive, some traders have begun or have been transformed into other food-related industries, such as meat processing products for supermarkets, and some have turned to providing frozen storage services and third-party cold chain logistics service providers. The case company is an example of a successful transition from a traditional frozen meat trader to a third-party logistics service provider.
This study has conducted a detailed and in-depth discussion of case companies, including how to use the market experience, advanced hardware facilities, high-performance software systems, market strategies, talent utilization, etc. to highlight how Singapore's SMEs are in this small market to continue it production and grow.
