With the popularity of interactive computer technologies, digital game-based learning has become one of the hot topics in technology-enhanced education. Many researchers have indicted that it does help enhance students’ motivations in learning if the characteristics of games can be brought into full play. Meanwhile, researchers also pointed out that during the technology-enhanced learning process, how to effectively aid students improve their learning performance is also a topic worthy of further studies in addition to increasing their learning interests. Therefore, in this study, a concept map-based learning strategy is proposed for developing an educational computer game. To verify the effectiveness of this approach, the effects of the developed educational game on students’ learning achievement, attitudes towards natural science and technology acceptance were evaluated by conducting a learning activity for an elementary school natural science course. Furthermore, the students' cognitive load of using the learning system was measured as well.
