With the rapid development of information technology, creativity is beneficial for companies to increase their competitiveness in the market, therefore, companies are gradually focusing on creativity and talents in various departments. However, when the work pressure is too much for the employees to bear, it may lead to the result that the creativity may be overdone. Therefore, the relationship between work stress and creativity will be the focus of this study.
Most of the previous studies have suggested that stress and creativity are negatively related, meaning that creativity decreases when stress is higher. In this study, two moderating variables of leadership humor, i.e., employees' diverse experiences, were included to see if they could moderate the negative effect between stress and creativity, thereby reducing stress and increasing creativity.
In this study, quantitative analysis of questionnaires was used, and a total of 233 valid questionnaires were collected. The results show that: (1) work stress has a significant negative effect on employee creativity; (2) leadership humor and employee diversity experiences have moderating effects, both of which can weaken the negative effect of work stress on employee creativity Influence. This article will make further explanations and suggestions based on the research results.
