This study mainly discussed the relationship between self-efficacy, critical thinking and innovative behavior. We investigated the factors behind the implementation of innovative policies in medical insti-tutions today with Chinese collectivism as a cultural backdrop. Analysis was done to understand the im-pacts of the levels of self-efficacy and critical thinking among nurses on the implementation of innovative medical policies. The four objectives of this study were: (1) to investigate the effect of self-efficacy on the stimulation of critical thinking; (2) to investigate the effect of self-efficacy on innovative behavior; (3) to investigate the effect of critical thinking on innovative behavior and (4) to investigate whether self-efficacy affects innovative behavior with critical thinking acting as the intermediary.
Survey data were collected from 217 full-time nurses. The study discovered that nurses with high self-efficacy may experience more critical thinking and innovative behavior. Nurses with good critical thinking skills may also experience more innovative behavior. Self-efficacy affects innovative behavior with critical thinking acting as an intermediary between them. Managerial implications and restrictions of the study were discussed, and suggestions for future studies were also provided.
