This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the AI chatbot-based learning approach on students' oral presentation performance. Since EFL students have little opportunity to be engaged in English in an authentic environment, an AI chatbot-based learning approach is proposed to help students prepare to present in English in a real-life context. Furthermore, the differences in oral presentation of students with different learning styles (VARK) are also explored. The present study uses a quasi-experimental design carried out in a five-week mini-lesson on tea arts. Tea arts included five sub-topics: tea history, environment, species, making, and brewing tea. There are 144 high school students from four classes participated in the study. Two experimental classes received a chatbot-based learning approach, while two control classes received PowerPoint slides as the traditional instruction. The data includes a pre-and-posttest on students' oral presentations with paired samples test, independent test, and two-way ANCOVA to evaluate the effectiveness of the Al chatbot-based learning approach. The finding showed that both groups significantly improved after the two instructions; nevertheless, chatbot-based learning scores increased more than traditional learning scores. Six dimensions of oral performance showed that chatbot-based learning affects the content of oral performance mainly, and only the content had the interaction between learning styles and two groups. Especially visual learners are more affected by chatbot-based learning than the rest of others' learning styles.
