電腦周邊商品是資訊產品中重要的品項之一,其中滑鼠又屬於電 腦周邊商品中輸入裝置設備,是目前個人電腦周邊產品中最為普遍之 設備。隨著個人電腦之興盛,滑鼠產業在近三十年來蓬勃發展。然而, 相較個人電腦系統及其他周邊裝置,滑鼠產品的規格更新與科技演進 卻顯緩慢,甚至與科技界奉為鐵律之「摩爾定律」也有背道而馳之勢。 近年,市面上新穎資訊產品陸續問世,筆記型電腦、平板電腦、智慧 手機及眾多輸入裝置設備紛紛投入市場,使得個人電腦市場飽受衝 擊,進而導致需求下滑。
本研究之目的,從滑鼠產品之定義、範疇,延伸至探討滑鼠產業 過往三十年來興盛之原因,並對當今該產業所遇之問題及威脅做研 究,設計訪談題綱,就特定問題,專訪滑鼠產業各界之精英,深入探 討滑鼠產業在未來被新興產品替代之可能性。並從營運上做策略鑽 研,針對產業上游之光學晶片等方案商,中游業界之滑鼠裝配暨製造 商,及下游電腦周邊及配件之品牌通路商,經分析後有所具體發現, 結論和建議。
Computer peripherals are one of the important information products, and the mouse which belongs to the input device among them is the most common PC peripheral for consumers. With the rise of personal computers, the mouse industry keeps prosperous in the last three decades. Compared to the personal computer systems and relative peripheral devices, however, the specification updates and the technology development of the mouse products grow significantly slowly. Furthermore, it doesn’t seems like the mouse industry complies with the “Moore’s Law,” which is regarded as the iron law in technology area. In recent years, new 3C products such as notebooks, tablets, smart phones and input devices have been launched to the market, causing a great impact on the personal computer market and decreasing the demand.
The purpose of this study is to understand the definition and the scope of mouse products, and further to explore the reasons why mouse industry prospers in past three decades as well as what problems and threats it encounters with at present time. Also, it designs specific topics for interviewing the elites of mouse industry so as to discuss the possibility of being replaced by emerging products in the future. In addition, after analyzing the operational strategies of the optical chips providers (upstream), the mouse manufacturers (midstream), and the computer peripherals distributors (downstream), this study will illustrate its findings, conclusion, and suggestion.
