  • 隨著全球化的不斷推進,資訊時代不斷更迭,工作者是否能因應快速變化的動態,其適應性績效也是支持企業績效是否能永續發展的一項指標。過去二十年來,在全球貿易流通,以及經濟全球化的推波助瀾下,語言及溝通能力已經成為大企業進行人才招募時,其中一項必備的能力,但目前對於企業經營績效與員工能力,大多探討專業能力上的發展與訓練,少從國際化時代需要的英語及溝通能力進行交叉研究。日本樂天企業將英語制定為官方語言,三星及現代等韓國企業也將英語設定為入職標準,顯示英語溝通能力,也與企業成長有密切關係。 本研究是從語言能力的角度出發,探討非母語人士(在本研究中以台灣人為主要的研究對象)之英語能力,與其在職場適應性績效之關聯性。研究結果發現適應性績效中的壓力管理能力以及持續學習的能力與整體工作績效有正相關性;代表英語口頭語言的聽力技能以及口說技能,也與適應性績效中創意性解決問題的能力以及持續學習的能力有正相關性;研究結果也表明藉由目標設定理論,企業中若設定英語能力標準做為人事任用標準,則也與員工的英語能力呈現正相關。


    As globalization continues to advance and the information age rapidly evolves, the ability of professionals to adapt to dynamic changes has become a critical indicator of sustainable corporate performance. Over the past two decades, with the expansion of global trade and economic globalization, language and communication competency have emerged as essential criteria for corporations when recruiting talents. While existing research on corporate performance and employee abilities has primarily focused on the development and training of professional skills, there is a dearth of interdisciplinary research examining the impact of English proficiency and communicative competency in the international era. Companies such as Japan’s Rakuten Corporation have made English their official language, while South Korean companies like Samsung and Hyundai have set English proficiency as a requirement. These has demonstrated English communication skills is closely related to corporate growth.
    This study investigates the relationship between English proficiency and adaptive performance in the workplace from the perspective of language ability. Focusing on non-native speakers (with Taiwanese people serving as the primary research subjects), this study examines the correlation between their English proficiency and their adaptive performance in the workplace. The results indicate that stress management ability and continuous learning ability in adaptive performance are positively correlated with overall job performance. Listening and speaking skills, which represent oral language, are also positively related to creative problem-solving ability and continuous learning ability in adaptive performance. Furthermore, according to goal-setting theory, if a company sets English proficiency standards as a criterion for personnel standard, this will also be positively correlated with employees’ English proficiency.
