There are varied versions of Fitts’s law available in the community. Which version is better has been a research hot spot for decades. This study reviewed the background of Fitts’s law, the disadvantages, and the research gaps in the literature. An experiment was designed to test hypotheses of Fitts (1954). First, MT is proportional to ID. Second, Ip or the slope is a constant for a specific movement. An alternative model was proposed in this study based on the findings in Physiology. Many issues in the literature, such as the method of estimating We and IDe, TP by ISO9241-9, were also discussed. A metric derived from the Shannon entropy is proposed to measure the information processing capability.
