Organizations have increasingly invested in deploying IT for administrative operations and critical business processes in their ability to deliver those IT services. Accordingly, how to use effective way to deploy and arrange the firm’s IT resource in responding the rapid environmental change is now of critical importance to the firm.
This study aims to explore the IT deploy arrangements, in terms of IT dominant logic, which refers to the managerial rationale for designing and evolving specific organizational IT arrangements in response to an enterprise’s environmental and strategic imperatives(Sambamurthy & Zmud,2000). In addition, the study seeks to explore how organizational culture influences on the organizing dominant logics for IT activities.
This study employs the case study method and grounded theory as main research strategies. This study describes two IT projects (including information security management system certification and electronic medical records system verification) undertaken by a case organization, Tzu Chi Hospital, and through the in-depth examination of underlying influences of Tzu Chi’s culture on IT dominant logic a better way to deploy and manage IT resource more effectively is corroborated. The implications of the study and future research directions are also discussed.
