功能詞AT、YOU、THE、IT和IN,以及實詞HERE、THANK、BID、NOW和GIVE頻繁出現在拍賣官的用語中。

With regard to the auction, most of the relevant research is about bidding strategies or bidding behavior. The research on the bidding process is not the main stream. This study used four auctioneers at international auction houses as an example. The researcher examined the gestures and speech of the auctioneers on the basis of multimodal approach, corpus analysis, and metafunctions to explore how auctioneers conducted live auctions with verbal and nonverbal communication simultaneously. The results indicate that auctioneers usually adopted referential gestures and performative gestures during the bidding. The function words, AT, YOU, THE, IT, and IN, and the content words, HERE, THANK, BID, NOW, and GIVE, high frequently existed in the speech of auctioneers. In the aspect of metafunctions, the interaction between auctioneers and bidders realized interpersonal metafuctions. The participants, the process, and the situation of the bidding activity interpreted ideational metafunctions. The whole auction event could be regarded as the dynamic presentation of textual metafunctions. To those who would like to engage in auction events or conduct relevant research on gestures and speech, this study can provide useful information.
