人類工業的進展，從1970年代第二次工業革命開始，製造業扮演著工業的火車頭，研發為製造業核心部門。早年設計從手繪製圖到1980年代初期電腦DOS系統問世，歐特克公司開發的Autocad繪圖軟體就成為市場的主流。在1980年末期UNIX工作站開始盛行，PTC參數科技公司開發的Pro/E軟體就成為電子業的主流研發設計軟體。1995年Johnny McEleney與Joh Hirschtick (原PTC公司Windows世代計畫主持人)成立SolidWorks公司打造全球第一套Windows的3D CAD。至今SolidWorks成為全球市佔率第一的CAD軟體，1997年高價賣給Dassault達梭系統公司。雲端應用從個人發展到企業，Johnny與Joh二位創辦人二次創業研發雲端CAD，打造全球第一套全雲端的Onshape上市。
GO科技公司是一家CADCAM軟體代理公司，從西門子CADCAM軟體銷售開始，再銷售PLM產品生命週期系統Aras PLM。2019年創辦人Alan去美國拜訪Onshape公司，取得了台灣區代理，開啟了公司轉型之路。
個案的主軸在述說創辦人Alan創業動機，以及創業過程中所面臨的挑戰，在公司營收有成長時，如何再帶領公司轉型，從銷售軟體為主的公司轉型為以訂閱服務SaaS(Software as a Service)為主的經營模式。Alan以多年的行業經驗與人脈，透過人力資源整合，洞悉製造業老闆的痛點，藉由Onshape雲端平台軟體的特性，打造雲虎平台，用來媒合製造業設計外包與新銳設計師的接案工作。企業不但降低人事成本又可以創造新訂單，設計師有穩定的案源，GO科技新商業模式於是誕生。
然而，推平台要有經濟規模，從一開始的軟體銷售改成以SaaS (Software as a Service)訂閱式租賃服務銷售額馬上從七成減到剩三成，面對低獲利的SaaS商業模式，GO科技公司如何穩定營收成長，創造公司品牌知名度，降低製造業的人事固定成本與研發成本，媒合過程中如何保障企業主與設計師，進而獲得市場青睞創造出平台經濟所需的流量，這一切的困難都等著創辦人用智慧去逐一克服。

The progress of Human Industry began with the Second Industrial Revolution in the 1970s. Manufacturing as a locomotive for industry, and RD is the core sector of the manufacturing industry. From the early years of design, from hand-drawn drawings to the introduction of computer DOS systems in the early 1980s, the AutoCAD drawing software developed by Autodesk become the mainstream in the market. UNIX workstation became popular in the late 1980s, the Pro/ENGINEER software developed by PTC Parametric Technology Co., Ltd. has become the main RD and design software for the electronics industry. In 1995, Johnny and Joh (formerly of PTC's Window Generation Program) founded SolidWorks and created the world's first 3D CAD for Window. So far, SolidWorks has become No. 1 software in the global 3D CAD market, SolidWorks was sold to Dassault Systèmes S.A. at a high price in 1997. Online cloud applications have evolved from Customer to Business, the two founders Johnny McEleney and Joh Hirschtick developed a cloud CAD for the second time, creating the world's first full cloud Onshape.
GO Technology, Inc. is a CAD CAM software distribution company that began with the sale of Siemens CAD CAM software, and then re-sales PLM product lifecycle system ArasPLM. In 2019, founder Alan traveled to the United States to visit Onshape, Inc. and obtained a distributorship in Taiwan and begin the company's transformation.
The main focus of the case is to explain why Alan, the founder, wanted to start his own business and the challenges faced of starting a business, how to lead the company's transformation from a software-based company to a subscription-based SaaS (Software as a Service) business model when the company's revenue is growing. Alan with years of industry experience and connections, through human resource integration, insight into the pain points of the manufacturing industry bosses, with the Onshape software features, he has created Cloud Tiger Platform to match the manufacturing industry design outsourcing and new designers on projects. In this way, companies can reduce their personnel costs but also create new orders, new designers can have a stable source of projects, and a business model for GO Technology is born.
However, to push the platform must have an economic scale, from the beginning of software sales to SaaS (Software as a Service) subscription rental service sales, immediately dropped 60% down to the remaining 30%. Facing the low-profit SaaS business model, how can GO Technology stabilize revenue growth, create company brand awareness, reduce fixed personnel costs and RD costs in manufacturing, as well as how to protect business owners and designers during the match making process, in order to gain market favor and create the traffic needed for the platform economy. All these challenges were waiting for the founders to overcome one by one with wisdom.
