With the improvement of the living standards nowadays, individuals tend to pursue higher levels of needs when their physical needs have been relatively satisfied. Endeavoring on one’s own is replaced by teamwork which produces collective wisdom. In this study, the concept of collective wisdom is applied to the group development process, in which individuals meet their inner needs within a community.
The study also explores how the collective wisdom of a group enhances the flow of personal experience and increases an individual's inner satisfaction, resulting in spontaneous behavior in various stages of development.
The author examines the communal development process of generating collective wisdom and the formation of personal flow experience as observed from a two-year ITseed Training Program. Participatory case study is adopted; the author collects and summarizes the data of long-term observation, and explains the effects of collective wisdom on personal experience flow and the group development process.
The study discovers that spontaneous behavior derived from continued individual participation in a community is mainly caused by the flow experience, brought about by the collective wisdom in the process of group development. So this study proposes that the collective wisdom be able to enhance the personal flow experience in the process of group development. Group leaders can take the proposal into account when they try to meet individual needs.
