The present research focused on the relationships among smartphone, technology assisted supplemental work (TASW) and work to family conflict. There are three main purposes in the research. First, exploring whether smartphone influence TASW. Second, exploring whether work characteristics (workload, task interdependence, time urgency) influence TASW. Third, examining the relationship between smartphone, time-based and strain- based work to family conflict when TASW as the mediator.

Survey data were collected from 303 full- time employees. Results of hierarchal regression analyses discovered that the employees who used smartphone will tend to engage in more technology assisted supplemental work after regular work hour. Moreover, when the employees who used smartphone perceived higher task urgency, the relationship between smartphone and TASW will be higher. The result also indicated that TASW will increase time-based and strain-based work to family conflict. The employees who used smartphone assisted supplemental work after work will reduce strain-based work to family conflict.
