回憶對人們而言是非常有價值的人生經歷。但由於個人的數位資料越來越多,
讓我們容易遺忘難以和過去回憶有所連結,是我們所面臨的最大問題。如何將
數位資料有效的融入日常生活物件之中,不經意的喚起過往回憶,並且造成驚
喜感,是我們目前所關心的議題。喚回記憶常用的形式之一 , 是時間膠囊。然而
,在設計數位媒材的時間膠囊之前,為了解聲音是否適合當成喚起回憶的媒材
,我們進行了三個前測實驗,分別為:(1)檢視聲音是否比影像容易遺忘。(2)聲音
與影像相比是否容易喚起回憶。(3)探索不同聲音種類在不同空間中對回憶的影
響。發現聲音十分適合當作喚起回憶的媒材。根據前測的實驗結果,我們設計
了「聲音膠囊」這個手機應用程式。

並且邀請10位受試者,將在2010年11月所錄製好的聲音片段放置於程式中,並
請受試者設定一個不規律的時間,讓手機在未來隨機播放過去聲音,以此觸發
使用者回顧過往記憶。並以質性的研究方法分析結果得知,使用者接收到聲音
膠囊都會產生有趣和驚訝等正面情緒。同時,也達到有別於以視覺媒體喚起回
憶的體驗。

本論文的貢獻為:(1)擴大喚起記憶的範圍,並重新感受過去情感。(2)由隨機的時
間寄送過去聲音,會產生驚喜感,使得在回憶過程中提高愉悅度。(3)可以開啟
一個話題與他人分享,促進社交互動(4)提供一種喚起回憶的新方法和新體驗。


Memories are valuable life experiences for human. Since the amount of
personal digital data is dramatically increasing, we tend to forget easily
and become unable to connect with past memories. How to integrate
digital data into our daily life efficiently, recall past memories
serendipitously, and create surprises are issues which currently we
concern about. We analyzed the time capsule which is the most
commonly used for memory recalling. However, before designing the
time capsule of digital materials, we performed the following three
pretest experiments to understand whether sound is appropriate as a
material for memory recalling: (1) Examine whether sound is easier to be
forgotten than image. (2) Compare sound and image to determine which
is better for recalling memories. (3) Explore the impact of various sounds
in different spaces on memories. According to the results of pre-test, we
designed the "Sound Capsule", a mobile phone application.

We invited 10 participants to record their sound in November 2010, and
placed the record into the application software of “Sound Capsule”.
Then we let them set an irregular timeframe, and allow the cell phone
randomly to play past sound in the future to trigger their past memories.
Qualitative research results indicate that most participants express
positive surprise when receiving the sound from “Sound Capsule”.Meanwhile, it achieves the different way from the visual media to evoke
the memories of experience. memories of the experience.

The contribution of this thesis of “SoundCapsule” is:(1) Expand and
evoke memories, and re-experience past feelings (2) Send the sound by
random time; There will be a sense of surprise, making the process of
improving the positive mood. (3) It can open a topic of conversation to
share with others, and promote social interaction. (4) It provides a new
way to awake the memories and new experiences.
