The irreversible trend of hindering the impacts of climate change has driven companies to be more forwarding-thinking and resilient in response to the environmental crisis, explicitly putting business development in parallel with sustainability. A number of studies have shown that knowledge-sharing in organizations tends to understand how individuals transmit different sources of knowledge. However, an important question regarding the promptness of how organizations stay alert to the knowledge-sharing process remained unanswered. Therefore, taking a qualitative approach, this research adopted case studies of five well-established corporations with the mission to cut carbon emissions and aimed to achieve net zero as their long-term organizational goal. Thus, this research collects and analyzes the main factors behind how different organizations adapt to the changes based on the perception of knowledge sharers and recipients within the organizations.
This research analyzed how those well-established corporations respond to the global pathway to net zero and share their knowledge within the organization to stimulate employee engagement. The research findings suggest that the success of adopting a net-zero transition is linked to the long-term steadfast knowledge-sharing cycle through internal communication. Coupled with top-down and bottom-up understanding within the organization, meanwhile, through external cross-sectoral collaboration via knowledge-sharing with multiple organizations.
The research attempts to establish the knowledge-sharing roadmap framework with the net-zero mission, reveal how the net-zero mission was first transplanted from external stakeholders to the organization, and then how knowledge is spread through diverse sharing mechanisms.
