隨著液晶顯示器的技術日趨成熟,新的應用日新月異,目前監視器所使用的面板已屬成熟產品,漸朝向尺寸的差異化、高解析度如4K2K或廣視角(IPS/MVA/AHVA)發展,顯示器本身的畫質就變成一項基本而又重要的因子,而要達到高畫質,Gamma curve對色彩管理來說是相當重要的。
液晶分子本身具有不同之非線性特性所呈現的亮度並非人眼所期望的,因此,需藉由Gamma curve在各灰階補償控制液晶分子的偏轉已達成人眼所能感受舒適的亮度。改善影像品質的Gamma補償技術乃是顯示器產業積極發展的關鍵技術之一。本文為研討並解決商用顯示器面板應用在整合型個人電腦的產品上,在開發驗證過程中發生的圖像品質之異常現象,利用Gamma補償的技術,在不變更原來的Gamma 電阻或重新設計光罩的情形下,改善該問題。
論文中首先簡介色彩原理並回顧表色系統之演進,進而說明液晶顯示器之架構及其驅動原理。因顯示器色彩是由光學三元色RGB混色而成,藉由Novatek開發的ACC TOOL V1.2軟體,可即時對顯示器的各灰階RGB進行補償,以消彌圖像顏色漸層之意常現象。
The technology of TFT-LCD nowadays has grown rapidly to a mature industry, and more and more applications have been brought up. The monitor panel is a mature product and will be developed toward different inches, high resolution like 4K2K, wide view angle, and slim boarder to become a value added product. Even so, the performance of liquid crystal display is still a fundamental and essential factor. The Gamma curve is one of the most important factors in color management to give a good display quality.
The molecules of liquid crystal inherently have different non-liner optical characteristics to display the brightness which is not the most comfortable for human eyes; hence, the appropriate brightness of colors for human eyes sensation could be further compensated by the Gamma curve. The color compensation by the Gamma tuning for improving image quality is a critical technique that LCD industry would like to develop. In this study, a picture quality issue was investigated by utilizing the Gamma tuning technique. This approach would not require to modify the original electric circuit design or re-lay out the photo mask to conquer this issue.
First, in the thesis, color principles are briefly introduced and the evolution of chromaticity systems is reviewed. The color of a pixel was given blending 3 primary colors, R, G and B colors. In this study, an ACC tool developed by Novatek was utilized to do the adjustment to the gray level of each RGB to diminish the abnormal corrugated color ribbon phenomenon of a display.
