In recent years, context-awareness has played a very significant role in many applications of smart room. These applications can make one computer system adapt to users’ need and provide value-added services to people. In museums, visitors can see and admire various kinds of history relics, but it is impossible to see all of them. Therefore, to provide a context-aware guide for every individual visitor is a main topic for museums.
This research presents an implementation framework for museums to construct their context-aware guide system which retrieves history relics according to visitors’ properties. In order to complete this work, two issues will be addressed. First of all is to capture knowledge of history relics, and second issue is to represent visitor profiles and items’ knowledge in the same system. We will use ontology to model these concepts and Spreading Activation to retrieve history relics.
In this research, an initial work will be presented to illustrate how to capture items’ knowledge in museum. And we hope that this workable framework is useful for museums to develop their guide system.
