基因改造食農作物是增加全球糧食產出以及提升全球農業效率的手段之一。這不僅有助於開發國家的農民,同時也幫助全球暖化而被影響的發展中和未開發國家解決糧食短缺的問題。由於基改食品相較於傳統農作物具有抵抗病蟲害以及高產出之特性,市場開始大量產出基因改造食品。本研究的目的是要了解有關基因改造農作物的發展。探索社會大眾對基因改造農作物的看法以及基因改造農作物對環境的影響。透過科學文獻資料庫(WOS)取得文獻資訊,探討基因改造食品在社會、倫理和環境方面的影響並探討基因改造農作物的知識擴散路徑。以文獻彼此之間的引證關係為基礎建立基因改造農作物的學術發展路徑,並進行主路徑分析和集群分析。由此了解不同國家在基因改造知識網路中所扮演的角色及其影響力,並藉此了解各國之間的合作關係。
研究發現,已開發國家具有較高的文獻發表。而未開發及開發中國家則在種植基因改造農作物這方面有著較迅速的成長。主路徑分析結果顯示,主要文獻的知識網路大多集中在研究基因改造植物對生態的影響和基因改造農作物會對環境造成的結果。根據集群分析結果,在二十組群中尋找出三個最顯著的群組類別作為此研究分析項目。第一、指出關於基因改造農作物所產生的健康問題,包括造成過敏的原因。第二、基因改造農作物對環境的影響。第三、公眾對基因改造食品的看法。此外迴歸模型結果表示,英國在基因改造農作物的道德、社會和環境問題領域中的研究表現出相對其他國家更為重要的地位。
最後,希望透過此研究可以幫助了解基因改造所探討的議題,並且了解這個領域所面臨的問題,藉此改善基因工程和生物技術,嘗試將基因食品的資訊公開,同時提供更優良,更安全的食品。


Genetic Engineering is a means to increase the global food surplus as well as increase the efficiency of global farming. This not only helps farmers in developed nations, it also greatly helps those impoverished in developing and undeveloped nations and those affected the most by global climate change. Because of GM foods’ resistance to pests, viruses, and its capability for a higher output than traditional crops, great quantities of GM foods began to be grown and sold on the market. This research aims to provide an explanation about genetically engineered crops by providing research results related to the effects genetically modified plants have on society and the environment globally. The literature network of genetically modified food related to social, ethical, and environmental criteria will be explored. First, a scientific literature database (WOS) will be searched, after that a citation-based approach will be applied in order to conduct a scientific main path analysis and cluster analysis. Ultimately, this research aims to understand the leadership and influence of different countries in the GM knowledge network and to understand the relationship of collaboration between various countries.
According to the data collected from the web of science, developed and developing countries have higher literature citations while undeveloped countries have a higher growth rate of genetically engineered crops. The main path analysis results reveal that the main literature network mostly focuses on the environmental impact of genetically modified plants and its overall ecological concerns. However, based on the cluster analysis results, twenty groups of clusters were discovered. Out of those discovered, the three most significant clusters are mentioned in this research pointing out the most important topics relating to the development of genetically engineered crops. These topics include the health concerns of GM plants, the environmental consequences of GM crops and the public perceptions of GM food. Furthermore, the regression model constructed in this research shows that the United Kingdom has the most significant literature in ethical, social and environmental concerns of genetically modified crops.
Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that there is still room for improvement in regards to genetic engineering and biotechnology. Further research can help to discover related problems and issues so that these fields may be bettered and the overall safety of the public may be increased.
