  • IEEE 802.16j工作小組制定多躍中繼(multihop relay)技術,讓系統業者能以架設中繼站的方式,用較低的成本來提升系統傳輸容量或擴展基地台的涵蓋範圍。由於加入中繼站,行動台在中繼站之間移動過程中將衍生新的換手問題,為了解決此問題,802.16j規格中特別制定了二種中繼站量測回報模式,以確保行動台在移動過程中仍能享有最佳的訊號品質。
    IEEE 802.16j規格並未定義中繼站有關之換手以及量測回報模式等參數的設定方式,也並未針對各種量測回報模式的適用時機及其效能進行細部評估,造成未來系統業者在進行多躍系統優化的因難度,因此本論文將針對規格所定義的二種中繼站量測回報模式,評估不同的量測回報模式下,對行動台所產生的效益與網路所造成的換手訊息量做比較,觀察出其不同量測回報模式的限制,並對量測回報模式的參數設定提出最佳化結果。


    Multi-hop relay (MR) is a multi-hop communication technique being developed by IEEE 802.16 task group j (TG j), It aims to enhance coverage, throughput and system capacity of 802.16-based wireless broadband access networks via using relay stations (RSs). The newly introduced RSs result in an RS-involved handover problem. In 802.16j, two RS report modes are defined to support the movement of mobile station (MS) among transparent relay stations.
    The selection of the report mode and the setting of the mode-related parameters are out of the scope of 802.16j specification. The performance of the RS report modes has not yet been investigated. In this paper, we will propose a rule to set the RS-involved handover related parameters. The performance of the two RS report modes and their associated signaling overhead are then investigated via computer simulation.
