This research discusses the relationship between employee uniform and organizational identification from the employee’s point of view in the airline industry. According to various studies, because of the uniform, employees would have different perception and attitude, and thus affecting their work performance. This might be associated with the design and presentation of the uniform. Moreover, other studies also indicate that the level of organizational identification would affect employee’s work performance and even turnover rate. These two factors, i.e., employee uniform and organizational identification, both affect employee work performance. Therefore, the researcher of this study aims to investigate the relationship between the two mentioned factors.
This research assumes that employee uniform has an influence on employee’s organizational identification. As its design structure, this study uses design and presentation of uniform as an independent variable, employee satisfaction as an intermediary factor, and organizational identification as a dependent variable. The subjects of this study included employees from various departments in the airline industry who are provided with uniforms, and quantitative questionnaire was used to collect data. The result of this research indicates employee uniform and organizational identification have a positive correlation. In addition, the design and presentation of uniform affects employee satisfaction regarding the uniform, with the design having the most influence, which in turn affects employee’s organizational identification. Finally, the result of this research can be referenced and used by industries on a practical basis.
