The health of our feet can dramatically affect our ability to perform daily activities, yet most people don't take it seriously. It is not until we have problems with our feet that we realize how important they are to us. Based on past literature, we know that arch support insoles can reduce foot pain and improve poor arch shape.
First of all, in order to understand the effect of the arch support insole developed by our lab on the average plantar pressure and contact area of the three arch types, normal feet, high arched feet and flat feet, a comparison was made between the normal insole (without arch support) and the adjustable arch support insole developed by our lab. Then, different arch curvature strengthening and arch curvature weakening experiments were conducted according to each arch type. Therefore, this study can be divided into three aspects. The first is to investigate the changes of arch support function on the average plantar pressure and contact area of each arch group; the second is to investigate whether the arch curvature of the high arch foot group was strengthened or not, in order to find out the differences between the various arch curvature strengthening conditions, and to propose a more appropriate improvement plan according to the results. Thirdly, to investigate the difference between the arch curvature weakened and weakened in the flat foot group, the average pressure and contact area of the arch curvature weakened or not were investigated according to the use of arch support insoles. In the end, we will propose a corresponding improvement method according to the situation of each arch group.
According to the results of this study, the use of arch support insoles significantly reduced the average foot pressure and increased the plantar contact area in the normal foot group. In the high-arched foot group, arch curvature enhancement significantly increased the contact area between the foot and the insole, with different effects depending on the thickness and location of the adhesive curvature pads. However, since every high arch foot has a different arch bulge, we can only understand that this type of adjustment can bring about improvement, but in reality, it needs to be adjusted according to the user's arch condition. In the experimental results of arch curvature reduction for flat feet, it can be found that arch reduction can effectively perform the function of arch support insoles. Similarly, it is only possible to understand the effectiveness of this type of arch reduction. Therefore, when using an arch support insole, it is important to understand the user's arch condition and adjust it to maximize the benefits of the arch support insole.
