Scientists have confirmed that gardening is an effective way to help the human cerebral cortex relieve stress and increase vitality. In the process of contact with nature, the human five senses can enter a state of sensory intrusion, which has the value of linking emotional memories and promoting positive character inspiration. It is also one of the natural methods widely used in healing and emotional management in recent years. Taking care of the plants and the lifestyle of contacting the soil can relieve the tired body and mind, as well as restore the state of mental health. This study explores the pain points and potential needs of gardening users from the perspective of service design, and designs a way that can be operated with mobile applications to assist gardening activities. The purpose is to let people obtain a relaxing and pleasant experience from the gardening related App, and then fall in love with nature and learn to grow plants. Get a healing experience with the power of plants.

The research process uses service design tools, such as personal experience, observation method, questionnaire, in-depth interview, persona, user journey map, experience model orientation, mining and defining the needs of the user's ethnic group, and brainstorming to help construct the functional framework of the application. After that, the user interface prototype was designed. It was introduced to the participants to help investigate the user experience in the form of storyboards. Finally, a total of 112 valid samples were collected to facilitate analyzing and verifying the results of the investigation.

The primary findings of this study are as follows: (1) Those who are active and highly interested in gardening enthusiasts are female office workers who are novice gardeners, so it is set as the target user group. (2) The Gardening Activity Mobile Application feature of this proposed study obtains the highest satisfaction assessment from the participants and the interface aesthetics obtains the best score. (3) In terms of affective questionnaire, the participant believes that the importance of having a happy mood obtains the highest score. (4) In the product satisfaction question, the participant thinks that the proposed Gardening Activity Mobile Application can assist them in gardening activities which also obtains the highest score.

In the end, this study puts forward a number of follow-up design and research suggestions based on the participant’s feedback and user experience, and hopes that the follow-up can provide gardening activities related design and research inspiration.
