The demand for blood products in the world's medical care has only increased, and the phenomenon of Taiwan's declining birth rate has sounded an alarm for Taiwan's future blood donation. Therefore, in the recruitment and maintenance of blood donors, blood donation deterrents and blood donation incentives are worth exploring. This study aims to explore blood donor influence factors and blood donation intention through service design.
The study is divided into four major phases. First, this study reviews the relevant literature as a reference for processes or research tools. The second stage is using the observation method to explore the blood donation service and the interaction status of donors. In addition, a co-creation workshop was held to invite potential blood donors, designers and service providers to jointly define problems of blood donation services. Then, with the questionnaire survey, 108 valid questionnaires were collected. The current status of blood donation services, blood donation deterrents and blood donation incentives were found. The third stage, three blood donation factors and behavior change strategies were used to design a new blood donation service. After that, euristic evaluation provides the service prototype pros and cons and gives suggestions for modification. The fourth stage, this study uses the Internet to conduct a new blood donation service simulation and questionnaire survey. 63 non-donors and 63 blood donors finished total 126 valid questionnaires. Furthermore, interviews with different experience donors to understand the donors' opinions on the design of the new blood donation service.
The main findings of this study are: 1) "Donating fear" and "donating uncertainty" have a negative impact on "blood donation intention", "encouragement and reward" have a positive impact on "blood donation intention"; 2) a new blood donation service design, blood donors' "attitude", "perceived behavior control" and "blood donation intention" are significantly higher than those non-donors; 3) a new blood donation service design, "subjective norms", "perceptual behavior control" and "blood donation intention" are significantly higher than the original blood donation service. Finally, this study proposes some research and design recommendations.
