Recruitment is an important process for companies in talent selection, and the success of a company relies on the talent. Thus, the highest principle of talent selection is to put the right person in the right place. In the recruitment process, the level of corporate information disclosure would affect the decision-making of job applicants and the matchmaking success rate for the targeted job positions. Therefore, under talent shortage, it is crucial to explore the factors that influence the decision-making process of job applicants.
This research applies the corporate recruitment scenario to student recruit in schools. The subject of the study is the MBA class of 2020 at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. The research aims to improve the impacts of information asymmetry and anxiety, which MBA students may encounter in the stage of advisor searching through information-gathering behavior (i.e., using decision support system (DSS) and asking questions through the messaging app—Line). This research was conducted by questionnaires and adopted a one-group pretest-posttest design. The questionnaire was tested before and after using the DSS and asking the questions. A total of 124 questionnaires were issued, and 75 were filled out. After excluding 22 invalid questionnaires, 53 valid questionnaires was collected resulting in a response rate of 71%. The questionnaires were analyzed by reliability analysis, correlation analysis, paired sample t-test, and Poisson regression analysis.
The results showed that: (1) Using DSS has a significant positive effect on reducing the level of information asymmetry and anxiety. (2) Question-asking behavior has a significant positive effect on reducing the level of information asymmetry and anxiety. (3) The level of information asymmetry affects information-gathering behavior. The more anxious the people are, the more likely they would conduct information-gathering behavior.
