德國企業在中國的採購挑戰與前途。

This thesis is meant to give an overview of the Chinese market and its potential for German businesses as a sourcing option. The theoretical framework will give a general introduction to global sourcing, introducing the general benefits and risks associated with it, as well as point out what type of companies use it as part of their business strategy. The core of this thesis points out benefits and risks of sourcing in China in particular. The focus is on German companies, but the results can also be applied to other Western companies. After analysing the macroeconomic and political situation in China, the costs of sourcing in China will be discussed. The focus of the cost section will be on labour and logistics cost, since those are assumed to have a big impact on the total cost. Quality and cultural issues will also be dealt with and the final chapter will answer the question whether or not other countries, like Vietnam for example, are more appropriate for sourcing and will also assess the future competitiveness of China as a sourcing market.
