This study explores research topics related to the tourism industry during COVID-19. It is based on bibliometric analysis and uses VOSviewer to perform co-word analysis. With the literature review of previous studies using co-word analysis, the research topics under each cluster are identified.
This study uses the Web of Science Core Collection as the document source database to filter the subject content of keywords related to COVID-19 from January 1 to October 15, 2020 and uses the Hospitality Leisure Sport Tourism classification in the database as the main area of discussion. 152 results were initially screened out, which the co-word analysis was applied to find out 97 results in the top five clusters. By reading 97 papers, the researcher obtained 19 research topics on the tourism industry in the time of COVID-19.
The results of this study discover that transition issues, sustainability issues, tourism-related sub-industries, tourism destinations, stakeholders affected by the epidemic, leisure activities during the lockdown period, and social emotions are the main research topics.
Keywords: COVID-19, tourism industry, bibliometric analysis, co-word analysis, WOS, VOSviewer
