美術館/博物館機構典藏珍貴繪畫/攝影/設計等作品,藉由展示達到教育民眾及提升文化水平之社會教育功能。然而,當畫作被不經意過度展示或不當保存,在日積月累的狀況下,因物性或化性造成典藏作品迅速劣質,當保存維護人員以肉眼發現異狀時,常為時已晚。例如在攝影作品展示時,常因為不當的光源使用造成畫作彩色褪色,這些不可逆的損壞是博物館保存珍貴藝術文化資產應該避免的職業倫理。


One of the major purposes in museums is to promote the culture via exhibition of paintings. However, the authentic works of paintings have a risk of damage or fading in cases of excessively demonstrated or improper preservation. According to the professional ethics, there are several irreversible damages should be avoided, such as photograph fading and paint pigment shifted. However, it is unreasonable to examine the degrees of destroys for the painting only by check of the conservator’ naked eyes.
