The aim of the thesis is to develop a 3D printing techniques based simplified manufacturing process of artificial facial skin and then to use the artificial skin to imitate expressions of human beings.

At first, we use the 3D Scanner, the single color structure light approach to scan the curved surface of a human head, and then use the 3D CAD/CAM modeling techniques to generate the inner and outer molds for the face. In the end, we can use the 3D printer to print out the molds. Furthermore, the silica gel is injected into the hollow space formed by the two jointed inner and outer molds to make the flexible face skin.

Lastly, we put it on the robot head and connect with wires of motor so that the artificial facial skin can imitate the expressions of human such as happy, angry, sorrow, and surprised.
