  • Visualization serves as a powerful tool for effective communication in comparison to the traditional written and verbal methods. It has gained more and more popularity as various fields have embraced its usage to convey information and data to wide audiences. In this study, visualization is utilized in design thinking to aid problem-solving of leaking roof and ventilation issue. The initial chapter of this study presents an extensive literature review about the different types and purposes of visualization, including examples to lead readers through the study.
This study presents three results. First, two instructional infographics for safety education –“Working in Confined Spaces”and“Occupational Accident Propaganda”, are created by adapting the characteristics from Clark & Lyons (2010) and Winn (1989). Second, scene imagesare created based on the realistic homeowner residence and used in problem-solving as it allows comprehension of spatial information and locating of objects during scenario reconstruction. Third, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) is created based on connecting the logical relationship of the contributing causes, and utilized in problem-solving as it allows the analysis of multiple errors, their combination, and their layer-by-layer relationship.
