Nano-ZnO sols in ethylene glycol with high solid content (15-20 %weight) were prepared by water removal of the ZnO precursor, Zn(OH)2. The precursor was formed by titration of zinc chloride and sodium hydroxide at pH 9. The best condition for the water removal process was 100oC for 2 hours. The primary particles in the nano-ZnO sols were spherical with a diameter of approximately 5 nm. The UV-Vis spectra show the ability of the prepared nano-ZnO sol to absorb UV light at wavelength below 370 nm. FTIR spectra show the presence of Zn-O functional group at 460 cm-1. FE-SEM images show that the morphology of the dried sols were flake-like which sizes were in the micron range. X-Ray Diffraction patterns show that a pure crystalline of ZnO was obtained upon washing with pure ethylene glycol.
