華裔創投家陳五福先生在1990年代曾創造出輝煌的創業紀錄，並被權威雜誌推選為全美十大創業家。於今，陳五福擴大事業層面，開創育成中心，幫助更多有心在高科技領域創業的人士，讓事業經營得更為成功。陳五福在美國高科技界創業成功，留下可供探討的主題是，如何能在人才眾多的美國高科技業界出類拔萃、受人敬重？如何能在短短數年間，同時開創多家公司，並都能有驚人的獲利？
成功沒有捷徑，陳五福出身於台北南港地區的貧困子弟，如此的清寒環境，如何能成為激勵陳五福奮發向上的動力？美國在1990年代，從法令的翻修到高科技股市空前榮景，為陳五福奠定了良好外部環境基礎，他如何看準市場，研發超越當時需求的光纖、無線通信技術？為求得以上諸多疑問解答，本研究透過資料研讀及當面訪談，並以藍海策略之檢測標準為據，深入研究陳五福創投事業。盼望以個人有限才學之個案研究，盡最大努力，讓陳五福經營創投事業的歷程與成功經驗，有系統的整理出來，以供往後接續研究人士參考。

Mr. Wu-Fu Chen, an American venture capitalist of Chinese decent, was cited as one of the top ten venture capitalists by various heavy-weight magazines for his outstanding performance in creating new businesses in the 1990s. After the turn of the century, Mr. Chen furthers his career by elevating its altitude to incepting a venture capital incubator which is designed to assist businessmen to successfully create and manage new companies in the high technology field. The success story of Mr. Wu-Fu Chen raises a question of how he surmounted to the summit and earned grave respect among his peers of the most brilliant minds in America, and how he could manage founding numerous profitable companies together within a span of few years?
There is no shortcut to success. Born stark poor in Nankang District, Taipei, Taiwan, Wu-Fu Chen motivated himself to the top with a timely push from the surroundings . Luckily, in the 1990s, the American government revised related laws to trigger off Nasdaque’s boom which provided perfect soil for his ventures. However, his vision of the potential needs for fiber optics and wireless communication also accounted for his success. But how could he have the foresight? In an attempt to answer these questions, this essay is based on reading and analyzing related data and materials, as well as interviews conducted with the subject person, friends and associates, and gauged against standards set by the Blue Ocean Strategies. The writer attempts at his best to analyze the key to Mr. Wu-Fu Chen’s success in a systematic fashion for the reference of future researchers.
