為應用於NG-PON2技術下,本論文欲分析比較多段式DFB雷射之特性,其方法是製作不同比例的波長位移層以改變DFB雷射的縱向折射率,造成布拉格波長偏移,達到穩定的單模輸出特性。本論文提出含波長位移層比例1:1之兩段式DFB雷射結構以增加其波長調變範圍,以及含不同波長位移層比例之多段式DFB雷射結構以比較其特性。
The goal of this thesis is to analyze and compare the properties of multi-section DFB lasers. The tunable laser can be used in NG-PON2 and covers the required 2.4 nm of wavelength tuning range. We design the active region with and without wavelength shift layer to have different lengths. The region without wavelength shift layer is defined by selective wet-etching such that the wavelength shift layer remains on the other section. The wavelength shift layer changes the effective refractive index in the regions and results in different Bragg wavelengths for different regions. We can obtain single-mode operation by simply control of the wavelength shift layer. The fabrication procedures are almost the same as those for standard DFB lasers.
