製造執行系統(Manufacturing Execution System, MES)是一種整合性的資訊系統，將企業生產所需的核心資訊如訂單、供應商、物料管理、生產進度、設備維護保養、品質管制等作業流程整合在一起，透過與生產設備的即時溝通，提供即時化資訊給使用者定義、監控及控制生產的環節。對製造業而言，MES透過與其他系統如企業資源規劃系統(Enterprise Resource Planning, ERP)的資訊整合，將生產過程的各種資訊加以串接，以提供即時的製造資訊以方便製造者進行監控及管理。
本個案以微波通訊產業引進MES系統的過程，探討個案公司在導入MES系統時所面臨可能之人員離職危機、外部競爭問題、內部生產管理等問題。本個案引用危機管理、資源拼湊、左右開弓、行動研究等管理方法，企圖協助企業在引進MES有更全面周詳的規畫，避免因未做好導入前的行動研究，繼而造成導入失敗。透過關鍵決策的分析，引導學員學習如何化解MES導入失敗危機並提升製造核心競爭力，解決外部競爭問題，更創造生產管理價值。本個案的行動研究，適合作為企業導入MES之研究參考。

Manufacturing Execution System (MES) is an integrated system which allows the enterprise to define, monitor, and control the material flow processes from raw material to finished products. MES integrates with other enterprise software system such as enterprise resource planning system to provide the real-time information for manufacturer to track and operate the manufacturing processes. In this case study, the scenario of introducing MES to the microwave communications industry is investigated. Multiple issues regarding introducing MES system such as personnel resign crisis, external competition issues, and internal production management problems are studied. The managerial methodology such as crisis management, resource patching, left and right bowing, and action research are used in this case to assist enterprises resolve the mentioned issues and avoid the failure of implementing MES. This case is suitable as a teaching material for enterprises to study the practical implement of MES.
