無線通信是近年來影響人類生活最大的產業，特別是手機行業，個案中諾基亞公司在手機業務曾經是世界第一，惟未能抓住產業發展趨勢，即時進行產品升級及轉型，在智慧型手機市場上被競爭對手Apple及Android系統超越，手機業務一蹶不振。
面對通信產業未來發展趨勢：5G及萬物互聯，諾基亞將重心瞄準無線通訊基礎設備領域，一方面出售手機設備業務，另一面透過回購諾基亞西門子電信公司股份，加快佈局無線通信基礎設備業務，藉此挽回諾基亞過往之榮耀並提升市值。
本個案探討諾基亞是否該進一步併購阿爾卡特-朗訊，來增加產品多樣化及提升市場佔有率，達成全面轉型及提升競爭力之成效。

Wireless telecommunication is the largest industry affecting people's life over recent years, in particular, mobile industry. Nokia in this case has ever been world-class No. 1 in mobile phone business; however, it did not catch the industrial trend for upgrade and transformation which led to overpass by competitors including Apple and Android system in smart phone market and became dead in the water.
In the face of upcoming trend to develop telecommunication industry, 5G and internet of things, Nokia turns its focus back to wireless communication infrastructure field, on the one hand, it sells mobile phone equipment, on the other hand, it buys back the shares of Nokia Siemens Networks, giving the sales a faster layout to retrieve the past glory and rise up market value.
The Case Study herein discussed whether NOKIA should merge and acquire Alcatel-Lucent further to scale up product diversification and rise up market share, thereby achieving the effect of full-scale transformation and competitiveness.
