Improving firm performance has always been an important management objective especially for supply chain performance. Companies are always constantly searching for new ideas and ways of differentiating their company or products from those of competitors. Also due to the changes towards globalization and to the advances in information and communication technologies, company nowadays focus on their core competencies by making closer relationships with suppliers and customers through the establishment of agile supply chains.
Agile supply chain or Supply chain agility is an important factor for company’s future success, because nowadays due to the globalization, the current business environments always have many changes in demands and many variations that make the company should be more responsive to the changes of demand. Information Technology (IT) are also one of the important factor as the way to respond in the supply chain management, to become the facilitator for supply chain agility. Therefore, based on the Dynamic Capabilities theory as the company’s ability to reconfigure the resources, we suggest that the key for successful supply chain performance is closely related with the Agile supply chain framework.
This study is using quantitative methodology to explore the framework of supply chain agility. Sample data was collected from the manufacturing companies in Indonesia. Furthermore, the results indicate that supply chain agility dimensions play an important role to give positive significant influence for supply chain performance. In conclusion, this study is a new model that can represent the dynamic capabilities theory and agile supply chain, also their impact on supply chain performance in supply chain management that will enhance for the companies to create their strategy to leverage the business performance.
