Six Sigma is a business strategy that can be applied to process improvement, process management and product design. Because Six Sigma is a project-driven methodology, the projects that provide the maximum financial benefits to the organization must be prioritized. To evaluate the priorities involved in selecting the optimal improvement projects for Six Sigma, we present an analytical framework for Six Sigma project selection (PS). Because PS is a type of multiple-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem, we propose a hybrid MCDM model that combines a decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) technique with an analytic network process (ANP) and the ‘VIseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje’ (VIKOR, which translates as “Multi-criteria Optimization and Compromise Solution”) method. The quality of printing films is a very important issue for electronics and food product packaging. We selected the film printing industry of Taiwan as an empirical model to study the PS of Six Sigma and to reveal methods of improving the gaps in each criterion to achieve the aspiration levels of performance.
