Abstract
One of the main issues in organizations is the chosen strategy when facing environmental risks, starting from before the risk is identified until the approach that the company takes to trigger that risk. It is important for companies to make the correct assessments and evaluation of potential risks and their impact as well as making the best use of their time and resources to develop the correct strategies to deal with a particular risk.
Worley and Lawler proposed the concept of Agility in the year of 2010 with the concept of building a framework with flexibility in mind to align the elements and resources in projects dynamically to support and create adaptability, collaboration, and high performance. Teence proposed the concept of Dynamic capability as the ability of the integration, building and reconfiguration of the resources for environmental change (Teece et al., 1997). For this research we addressed the risk to then combine the concepts of “Agility” to represent the design of the strategy and the value creation that “Dynamic Capability” offers to the organization, generating the result of achieving sustainability in IT Outsourcing projects.
The aim of this research is to absorb the knowledge of the strategies and processes from the case study of the projects in Hexaware Technologies Mexico, an Information Technologies Outsourcing Company during the environmental risk of the Pandemic of Covid-19. For this purpose, this research collected the observational data from the period when the pandemic started back in 2020 to 2021 with qualitative semi structured interviews. To analyze the data, Grounded Theory was applied using Conceptual labeling to identify patterns and concepts to match the evidence with our research framework.
The data collected for the case study shows that Hexaware Technologies applies Agility and Dynamic capabilities to achieve sustainability in their projects using as an example the phenomenon of the pandemic and their success with achieving this state. After all the current study expects to provide a framework and guidance for companies to adopt the model for the future to implement during uncertainty situations.
