網路快速的興起，雖然擴展了學生的學習管道與視野，傳統的交友模式也開始有所轉變，「網友」是否與現實生活中的「友伴」相同呢，亦有可能因為不當的使用而導致網路成癮問題。本研究以「人際關係理論」為理論架構依據，主要在瞭解高職學生的網路使用動機與使用行為、個人特性與網路成癮現象間是否具有某種關連性，並探討網路成癮高危險群在人口特性與社會心理特性等方面與一般網路使用學生之差異，最後嘗試建立本研究之結構方程式模型。
經統計分析後，主要發現如下：
網路交友方面：青少年利用網路來拓展人際關係，已成為一個日趨普及的新管道、學生進行網路交友主要動機為「打發時間」「多交新朋友」。
網路成癮方面：網路交友社會支持與家庭凝聚力較具預測力，其中社會支持與網路成癮為負相關。

While the thriving of the Internet widens the perspectives and ways of learning, it is also changing the traditional friends making pattern. Are the “Internet friends” the same as “company” in real world? Or is it also possible to cause Internet addiction by the abuse of the Internet? This study is to discover the connectivity between the motives and behavior of using Internet, personal characteristics and the Internet addiction based on “Interpersonal Theory”. It also looks into the differences between high-risk groups of Internet addiction and average Internet using students in demographic characteristics and psychological characteristics. Thus we try to build up the structural formula pattern.
After performing the analysis, the findings are as follows:
About making friends over Internet: It tells that expanding interpersonal relationship over Internet had become a new , popular way among teenagers. The major motives for students to make friends over the Internet are “kill time” and “make more new friends”.
About Internet addiction: Social support and family cohesion are more predictable factors on making friends on the Internet. Among them, social support is negative correlated to Internet addiction.
