由於發光二極體(Light-Emitting Diode LED)在技術瓶頸不斷的突破下,已從原有的應用市場,如單純的指示燈功能,至今大量的導入手機液晶螢幕背光、筆記型電腦LED背光源、大型液晶電視螢幕的背光,並佔LED應用產品比重達四成以上,其它如交通工具的指示照明、路燈、戶外大型看板、車用市場、景觀用照明市場等,在近2~3年也逐漸有較多的LED光源導入。在以往從輔助照明的用途,發展至今為主要的照明光源。尤其是在節能減碳的趨勢下,各國莫不極力的朝此發展。2007年6月(G8)世界八大工業國也達成共識希望於2050年CO2排放量能減少為現在的1/2,台灣也由能源署籌劃徵收減碳排放稅。而在2009年底,於丹麥哥本哈根舉辦的全球對抗氣候變遷的會議,更是新減碳紀元的里程碑。藉由以上的措施,決定地球將來的生態、經濟及社會發展。由此可見,世界各國無不積極的朝節能減碳的方向努力,期減少對環境的破壞,以挽救地球。
在本文中我們將對LED照明光源的優勢、市場走向、白光LED的發展,各國LED白光發展現況與未來展望,最後探討白光LED在節能減碳效益上的益處。LED技術的創新開發兼具節能、環保與規模經濟等諸多效益,相對於傳統光源須耗費較多的資源與造成環境污染。而由LED光源取代傳統光源則是當務之急。
Light-Emitting Diode (LED) was often applied on index lights. However, with the technical advance, recently, it is widely applied to the back light of cellular phone screens, the back-lighted source of laptops, the back-lighted large liquid crystal TV screens, which occupies more than 40% of LED applications in the market. LED illuminant has been introduced to index lights for vehicles, street lamps, large outdoor bulletin boards, automobile markets, lighting for landscapes, etc. around three years ago. From minor uses to primary lighting sources today, many countries are making every effort on developing the technology of LED lighting in the hopes of going after the trend of energy saving and reducing carbon dioxide. The G8 Summit, held in June 2007, reached a consensus to reduce the quantity of CO2 emission down to 50% in 2050 compared to that of today. The Bureau of Energy, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Taiwan, is also planning on levying taxes of carbon dioxide emission. The Copenhagen climate conference held in late 2009 has set a new centurial milestone of reducing carbon dioxide. Most of the world are making every effort on saving energy and reducing carbon dioxide to decrease environmental damages and pollutions, and to save the earth.
In the paper we will discuss the benefits and market trends of LED lighting sources, the white light LED development, and the current developing condition and future prospect of the white light LED in many countries. We will probe into the advantages of using white light LED in energy saving and carbon dioxide reducing in later chapter. The innovation of LED technology has many beneficial results including energy saving, environmental protection and scale economy?. Contrast to traditional lighting sources which consume more energy and produce environmental pollutions, LED lighting should become the most immediate environmental savior in place of traditional lighting.
