Various multiple-attribute decision analysis approaches have been developed to choose the best fashion design among alternatives, but none of them consider interdependence among their criteria. The purpose of this study is to develop comprehensive criteria for evaluating fashion design schemes and used integrated models which consider the interrelation between the criteria for evaluating alternative fashion design schemes.

Two hybrid methods were implemented in this study. The first hybrid method integrated the Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) that can be used to analyze the interrelations between the major clusters of fashion design evaluation, the analytical network process (ANP) that can calculate the criterion weight that is adjusted based on the influence between different elements in the decision framework, and the Visekriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) that determines the best fashion design by ranking a set of designs by using conflicting criteria. The second hybrid model used the diamond pairwise comparison method to elicit the weights and interaction degrees of a set of criteria and the Choquet integral method for aggregating the evaluation to identify the best design based on the fuzzy measure which represents the decision-makers’ preferences and prospects.

The proposed approaches can be used as a decision analysis tool in fashion design and other fields and has various advantages (e.g. considering interrelations between clusters and influences between criteria, and ranking a set of alternatives), and therefore, is appropriate for practical circumstances. By implementing the hybrid method in case examples, the efficacy of the proposed approaches for evaluating fashion designs is demonstrated.
