台灣企業主要是由中小型企業所構成，約占所有企業的97.63%。在這次的金融海嘯(2008)當中，受創最深的也是這些中小企業。在這波不景氣當中，能存活下來的企業大都是體質建全，管理得當的企業。因此，如何讓企業能建全自身管理能力，強化企業體質，也是企業所必需追求的。
企業診斷就如同健康檢查一樣，依據現行企業體質，分析未來產業環境，及早發現企業需要立即改善的地方並採取適當的策略。
而大部份探討企業診斷的流程有不同的理論與方法，大部分學說與理論都嘗試將企業所面臨的問題能一次性的提出，做全面的檢討與改進，並提出解決方案，嘗試能一次解決所有問題，並得到立即的改善。這就猶如一個人犯有多重疾病，在診斷出病狀後，希望施以各種病狀的處方，但卻忽略處方彼此間存在著相互衝突的因素，會導致彼此間之不良適應。
因此我們嘗試找出影響企業最根本的問題點，當將此問題解決後，或許其他問題也因而消失、也或許能減輕其嚴重性。更重要的是，本研究在以限制理論基礎下，架構一個標準作業程，做為企業診斷的依據，並以個案方式對每一個步驟詳加推演，推演結果可做為企業未來依循的參考。在經濟不景氣下，提供中小企業另外一種節流方法，同時，依循本研究的標準流程，企業也可以自行發展出適合其文化背景的診斷方法，並做為決策的參考依據。

Enterprises in Taiwan consist mainly of small and medium-sized corporations, about 97.63% in all. These enterprises also suffer the most in the Financial Tsunami of 2008. Only those enterprises that are well managed and possess sound constitutions can survive this wave of depression. Therefore, enterprise should be able to enhance its own constitution as well as solidify the ability of self-management.
Like a health check, the enterprise diagnostic will analyze the future environment of the industry according to the current status of the enterprise, so the areas that have to be improved can be discovered early and proper strategy can be applied.
Studies related to enterprise diagnostic process each has its own theory and methodology, most of them try to unveil the problems that the enterprise is facing all at once, and launch full-scale review and improvement in order to come out with solution, then attempt to solve all of the problems at one time and get immediate result. It’s just like treating a patient who has multiple diseases with every applicable prescription at one time, but to ignore that prescriptions might not function well with one another, and lead to unwholesome effects as a result.
Therefore, we should focus on finding out the key issue that affects the enterprise most, and by resolving this key issue, other problems might also go away or at least alleviates their seriousness. Most importantly, base on the theory of constrain, this study established a standard operation procedure which can be used as a reference for the enterprise performing diagnostic, this study also deduces each procedure in detail by using case study, and the enterprise can refer to the deduced result in the future. During this economic depression period, it provides an alternate way for enterprise to cut back cost, meanwhile, by implementing the standard process proposed in this study, the enterprise can develop its own diagnostic methodology to best fit its culture background, and applies it when making decision.
