隨著汽車產業開始從內燃機引擎,逐漸轉變至電動車、自駕車,這些高科技智能汽車上的資訊都需要聯網,自駕車更需要透過AI演算法、影像辨識與圖形計算等技術的輔助,而這些晶片設計廠商已開始佈局至車用電子半導體市場中,透過併購的或是拓展創新技術的方式,來擴展車用電子產業版圖並企圖提高市佔率。同時,來自中、美兩國之敵視關係,美國透過中美貿易戰限制了部分原物料輸出至中國,先重擊了中國半導體產業的發展,隨後中國又爆發出新冠肺炎疫情,此疫情重創了全球半導體產業。綜合上述,此文獻中將探討中美貿易戰及新冠肺炎疫情對台灣半導體的機會與威脅,以車用電子為例來進行說明,歷經這兩件重大事件後,反而加速了自駕車的推進,隨著感測器、演算法、資通訊與影像辨識等技術日漸成熟,讓車用電子元件需求量大增。而台灣身處在其中,該如何利用獲利的機會又不破壞與中美兩強之間依存關係,台灣半導體應該更專注在車用電子市場的拓展,進而維持台灣在世界半導體的領先優勢及地位,並從中找出發展的機會以及潛藏的威脅,這將會是台灣半導體產業未來商機所在。


As the automotive industry began to shift from internal combustion engines (ICE) to electric vehicles (EV) and self-driving cars, the world’s major semiconductor manufacturers began to shift to the automotive industry to expand their layout. For example, automotive electronics manufacturers such as NXP and Infineon expanded their layout through mergers and acquisitions, by accessing to innovative technologies to increase market shares. Another example is Qualcomm, NVIDIA and other non-automotive electronics industry manufacturers, who have entered the automotive industry. Since electric vehicles and smart devices for self-driving cars need to be connected to the Internet. Self-driving cars need to use AI algorithms, image recognition, and graphics calculations, etc. The communication IC design manufacturers and GPU computing manufacturers have also begun to deploy to the automotive electronic semiconductor market.
While fierce competition is being launched in the automotive semiconductor market, the external environment has changed. The hostile relationship between China and the United States has gradually evolved into a China-US trade war. The United States has restricted the export of some raw materials to China through the China-US trade war, which has severely hit the development of China's semiconductor industry. As for the competition between Taiwan’s two major semiconductor exporting countries, Taiwan is in the situation of how can it not lose profit opportunities without destroying its dependence on the two world powers?
After the China-US trade war began, the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) broke out, which severely damaged the global semiconductor industry. However, due to the outbreak of the COVID-19, the advancement of self-driving cars has been accelerated. With the maturity of technologies such as sensors, algorithms, communication and image recognition, the progress of automotive electronics technology has greatly increased the demand for automotive electronic components. The automotive electronic semiconductor industry will be the profitable business in the future.
In summary, whether it is affected by the China-US trade war or the COVID-19, the layout of the semiconductor industry will change, and Taiwan’s semiconductor has the world’s leading technology. In the situation of reshuffling in the industry, how can Taiwanese manufacturers look for developing through opportunities and respond to threats?
