In 2015, the proportion of elderly in Taiwan already reach 12% of the total population. It is expected to reach 20% and Taiwan will become super-aged society on 2025. It means, Taiwan is set to surpass Japan as Asia’s fastest aging nation this decade. Along with the plummeting birth rate and shrinking workforce, Taiwan is facing daunting challenges because of the dramatic demographic change happening in the next 50 years. Yet people are either unaware or unrealistic about the seriousness and the consequences of these issues. Moreover, Taiwan relies heavily on foreign labor for long-term care, resulting in a huge discrepancy between existing services and actual need.
Most people view these above issues as crises, but Silver Linings Global believe they actually present as great opportunities for Taiwan. With innovative yet affordable technology, Taiwan can lead the pack by creating and developing innovative aging solutions and service models to help address the global aging needs. The main goal is for Taiwan to be the leader in aging innovation.
