新產品的開發起始於概念形成,終止於產品成功退出市場,當中所涉及的層面非常廣泛,必須要有一個有效的產品協同開發設計執行模式加以整合,才能產生具體的成效。產品協同開發設計模式的良莠不僅影響設計者本身的設計績效,更影響專案的開發結果與最後的銷售成績,換言之,沒有好的產品協同開發設計模式就沒有好的產品品質。
什麼是好的產品協同開發設計模式,它有哪些要素?本研究綜合學者論點發現產品協同開發與設計組織,設計流程和設計管理有關,因此,對於產品協同開發設計模式有關的組織、流程以及管理模式經由個案研究做通盤的了解,是本研究進行之動機與目的。
本研究經由解構新產品協同開發設計執行模式的要素,匯整出完整的產品協同開發設計模式的輪廓。為兼顧理論與實務觀點,以個案研究了方式,針對文獻探討、專家訪談等方向著手進行資料收集,產生出產品協同開發設計執行模式的完整內涵。具體的研究發現有三點:
1. 設計部門的層級越高,所需擔負的產品協同開發責任越重,同時設計組織也越龐大而複雜。但是個案中無論設計組織層級的高低都能有效的執行產品協同開發工作,因此,設計組織的層級定位高低與產品協同開發的執行成效,並無直接的對應關係,其定位應當依據設計策略的佈局來決定。
2.設計流程是產品協同開發必須具備的要件,個案公司的設計流程都有嚴謹的人、機、料、法、環等工程質量管理的要素定義,也都在電子協同平台上使用協同設計軟體Pro/E Intralink作為PDM解決方案的工具,不同的是鴻海的設計流程強調最後的產出報告形式必須依據客戶的要求提供客戶需要的產出報告。緯創的產品開發流程形式則有硬性的產出報告,緯創稱為九大文件。由此可見,產品協同開發設計流程必須有嚴謹的定義及執行的落實以及電子設計平台的整合應用,產出報告的型式則不是必然要件。
3.在個案中發現,鴻海的工業設計部門採用輕型矩陣組織作為管理的模式,而緯創的工業設計部門也是採用輕型矩陣組織的管理模式,兩者都能執行並完成該公司所賦予的工業設計解決方案需求。由此可知,採用輕型矩陣組織的管理模式可滿足現階段的標竿企業之工業設計部門管理需求。
The process of developing new product development processes is initiated from the formation of ideas and completed in the stage of withdrawn from the market. Various conditions need to be considered, thus, a significant model of the product collaborative design development will enhance the effective of the process. All the final result of the product design quality and marketing commodities will come from the significant model of the product collaborative design development.
What kind of the key element will influence the model quality of the product collaborative development of design? From the previous research studies, the factors of the corporate organization, design process, and design management are the most important factors for the model of the product collaborative design development. Therefore, how these factors work together is the motivation and purpose of this study.
In order to develop the research rationale, the technique of case study was adopted based on the perspective of two benchmark companies pertinent to their product collaborative development design model. The results generated from this study revealed that.
1. The more high level of the ID department in the company organization, the more heavy responsibility and complex issues in the ID department, No relationship was found between the performance of the product collaborative development and the organization level of the company.
2. The product development process is a significant factor in a successful product collaborative design development. The results generated from case study showed that all of the objectives were considered about how to fulfill the engineering quality of management. The management includes 5 elements: (1) human issue, (2) machine issue, (3) material issue, (4) method issue, and (5) condition issue. In additions, all of the benchmark companies implement their PDM solution by means of applying the Web base electronic platform. In addition, a different survey result about the output report of the product development process was found in the case study result, That is, in case 1, no regular output report was found and it all depends on the buyer’s requirements. Nonetheless, in case 2, formal output report form called the 9 types of output report document did exist.
3. In terms of the design management factor, from the case study result, case 2 is more complex than case 1, but both use the same design management model. They all adopt a light matrix design organization, which means that a light matrix design organization can afford the requirement of the design management in the current benchmark companies.
