本研究是以擴充基座為例,提供企業或研發團隊一套系統性地找出利基市場的設計方法。擴充基座這個產品就像是一個資訊設備整合者,協助電腦使用者連接各種周邊設備,諸如:液晶顯示器、滑鼠、鍵盤、記憶卡、網路…等各項外接設備,也提供數位影音、資料的傳輸功能,幫助使用者建構一個理想的多工環境。

擴充基座絕大部分的使用對象是筆記型電腦的使用者,近年的筆電設計越趨輕薄,本身搭載的連接埠數量也隨之減少,企業全球化的趨勢也讓移動辦公需求增加。在此潮流下,輕薄型的筆電需求升溫,也讓相搭配的擴充基座需求日益升高。但長久以來,擴充基座被認為是一個單純的功能性產品,鮮少有企業以更深入的角度或以使用者為中心做產品開發,導致市面上大部分的擴充基座大同小異。為了改善此現象,本研究探討如何提出一套設計流程來尋找利基市場與開發新產品。本研究主要是結合人物誌 (Persona) 與層級分析法 (AHP) 來進行一套產品設計開發的流程研究,透過訪談來挖掘使用者潛在的需求並定義Persona,接著以Persona為設計目標產出設計方案,接著再請專家透過AHP從中評選出最佳方案,最後請目標族群做喜好度問卷調查,藉此驗證最佳設計方案具備可行性。本研究發現結果如下:

1.透過訪談法與Persona法找出新的利基市場,也就是同時有定點辦公與移動辦公需求的使用族群,定義為複合型的擴充基座使用族群。
2.以AHP法與喜好度調查問卷確認複合型擴充基座確實與現有產品有所區隔,具有市場潛力。
3.提供一套流程來確保產品在設計開發中,能客觀、系統性的找出關鍵元素做調整,並且縮小研發團隊與終端使用者的認知差距。
4.方案選擇上,無論專家或一般使用者,都較偏好複合型的擴充基座方案。


This study aims to provide a systematic design method for enterprises or R&D teams to find out the niche market by using docking station as an example. The docking station is like an information device integrator, which helps computer users connect with various peripheral devices, such as LCD monitor, mouse, keyboard, memory card, and ethernet. In addition, docking station can also transmit digital audio, video, and data to help users creat an ideal multi-tasking environment.

The majority users of docking stations are laptop users. Since the laptops have become thinner in recent years, the number of ports on the laptops has decreased. Besides, the globalization of the enterprise is also boosting the demand for mobile office. The heating demand for ultrabook is driving the need for matching docking stations. However, docking station has been considered as a purely functional product for a long time. Therefore, few enterprises carry out product development from a deeper perspective or user-centered approach, resulting in most of the docking stations on the market are more or less the same. In order to improve the status quo, this study further proposes a design process to find out a niche market and develop new products. This study mainly combines Persona and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to conduct research on the product design process, and adopts interviews to discover users' potential needs and define Persona. Then, design solutions were produced with Persona as the design target. Experts were invited to help select the best alternative through the use of the AHP. Finally, the target group was asked to respond to the preference questionnaires to verify the feasibility of the alternative. The findings of this study are as follows:

1.Use interviews and persona to identify new niche market, namely users with needs in both fixed and mobile offices. They are defined as composite users of docking station.
2.Use AHP and preference questionnaires to confirm the composite docking station is indeed different from existing products and has huge market potential.
3.Provide a set of processes to ensure that key elements can be found out systematically in order to make changes in the product design and development process. Thus, gap between the R&D team and the perception of end users can be narrowed down.
4.In terms of the choice of solution, both experts and common users prefer the composite docking station solution.
