This research developed a tool to evaluate the elderly’s user interface ability for the mobile interface use. The domain structure was also proposed including cognitive and motor domains initially, and modified to cover cognition, motor speed, attention, and motor accuracy after the factor analysis. After collecting 135 data from healthy elderly, the original system was used to investigate the variation of user interface ability in the elderly population. The prediction of age difference and technology use on the interface use behaviors were also examined. The application of the broadly used Fitts’ law in the elderly users was investigated as well. Finally, the possible dimension reduction was developed through clustering comparison and factor analysis. This system could provide future designers and researchers to develop the individualized interface in order to improve the usability and user experience in the elderly population. Future research can be conducted to investigate the possible application of outcome measure of interface use training through this evaluation system.
