本研究針對貨櫃航運產業,利用Bresnahan模型進行獨占力分析檢定,並分別以靜態及動態競爭模型,探討全球貨櫃航運產業獨占力與競爭特徵。研究期間為2001年1月至2008年9月之季資料。根據全球大洋航線區分為三大航向,分別為亞洲到美國航向(Asia-US)、歐洲到亞洲航向(European-Asia)和美國到歐洲航向(US-European)。在比較靜態與動態模型後,由於動態模型的配適度優於靜態模型,表示採用ECM架構下的動態模型較佳。動態研究結果發現短期內貨櫃航運的市場趨向完全競爭。但在長期均衡下,部分貨櫃航商具有某種程度的壟斷力。


This study attempts to investigate the market power in the container shipping industry from January 2001 through September 2008 by using the static and dynamic model of Brenahan approach. The global freight capacity is separated into three courses by global ocean route. That is Asia-US course, European-Asia course and US-European course. After comparing the static and the dynamic approaches, we find the dynamic Bresnahan model has good model fit. Typically, the empirical results suggest that the container shipping market to be competitive in the short run, but indicates it has somewhat market power in the long run.
