近年來自由貿易與環境保護已經成為世界各國普遍重視的課題，因此國際標準組織(ISO: International Standard Organization)繼成功地推行ISO 9000品質管理系統標準後， 1996年9月又公佈ISO 14001環境管理系統標準。全世界各企業皆十分重視且積極努力以促成其生產活動、產品及服務能符合ISO 14001環境管理系統標準，以彰顯企業對地球環境的重視並負起企業的社會責任，同地提升其產品的市場競爭力。
而本研究係以個案方式探討汽車服務業導入ISO 14001環境管理系統的過程，並透過資料蒐集、訪談及現地參訪，發現個案公司除了追求汽車銷售及服務領導地位外，更積極地因應國際環保綠色風潮，並配合台灣地區環保法規、日本豐田集團“地球環境憲章”之要求，一直以朝向所有生產活動、產品企劃及服務顧客皆能符合環保而努力。因此成功地將ISO 14001環境管理系統落實運用在汽車服務業。
個案公司一開始即規劃由經銷商總公司及一處服務據點建置環境管理系統，並取得ISO 14001環境管理系統驗證，接著逐步地推展至其餘服務據點。由於建置環境管理系統必須有計劃，按步就班地展開，個案公司在系統建置過程中，對經銷商種子人員展開環境管理系統教育訓練，再灌輸全員環保觀念，落實全員推行環境管理系統。並整合全省汽車維修服務網之先期環境審查、環境管理系統規劃、文件制定及內部稽核等作法。
此外，個案公司亦針對汽車服務據點之顯著性環境衝擊、應符合環保法規事項及利害相關者關切議題等環境風險事項，提出相關環境管理方案及作業管制程序等改善管制作法，以供汽車服務業提升環境績效之參考。

Free trade and environmental protection both are becoming the important issues to the governments and the industries in the 21 century. Thus International Standard Organization announced the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System in September, 1996. In order to meet ISO 14001 requirement, industries have paid much attention on related productions, logistics, services, etc. The industries not only show their carefulness of protecting the land of Taiwan by ISO 14001 implementation, but also indicate their practice in business’s social responsibility. It can be enhanced overall business competitiveness simultaneous.
Hotai Motor is aggressively keeping the leading position of vehicle sales and services, and obeys the Taiwan’s regulations and Toyota Motor Corp.’s “Toyota Earth Chart” to deeper cultivates Taiwan vehicle market. Therefore, we realized that Hotai Motor paid great attentions on the international trend of green consuming and the deteriorating environmental problems. Undoubtedly, Hotai Motor is successfully implemented ISO 14001 Environmental Management System in business vehicle business.
In the beginning of setting up ISO 14001 , Hotai Motor drawn up a plan to install ISO 14001 to dealers; that is, the head office of each dealer and one of its service outlet work together as the pilot entities for scheduling for the Environmental Management System. According to Hotai’s plan, 126 service outlets will pass ISO 14001 certification by the end of 2007. Seeing environment training is a key point to set up ISO 14001; Hotai conducted 5 stages training to promote personnel’s active attendance in environmental protection work by initiating their environmental recognition and promoting their environmental awareness. Furthermore, Hotai Motor was set up an environmental management to improve the negative impact on environment.
I think it could be used as a good example for business vehicle service and others.
