In this thesis, a broadband CPW-to-rectangular waveguide transition using two
quarter-wavelength resonators is proposed. The transition size can be saved since this transition does not need an additional intermediate transition. Besides, the housing interference on the CPW can be alleviated since the CPW is placed at the center of the housing. Three CPW-to-rectangular waveguide transitions using 107 Ω, 75 Ω, and 50 Ω CPW feeding have been implemented to demonstrate the broadband performance of the transitions. By adequately choosing the resonant frequencies of the two quarter-wavelength resonators, these transitions can exhibit good insertion and return losses over the whole X-band (8.2 GHz~12.4 GHz). In order to verify the simulation results, three back-to-back transitions are fabricated and measured where the measurement results are in good agreement with the simulation results.
In order to achieve a compact and broadband CPW-to-rectangular waveguide
transition, two compact quarter-wavelength resonators are used. Similarly, three
CPW-to-rectangular waveguide transitions using 107 Ω, 75 Ω, and 50 Ω CPW feeding
have been implemented to demonstrate the broadband performance of the transitions. The three transitions using 107 Ω , 75 Ω, and 50 Ω CPW feeding not only have broadband performance over the whole X-band (8.2 GHz~12.4 GHz) , but also can save 21 %, 21 %, and 18 % transition sizes as compared with the previous designs. In order to verify the simulation results, three back-to-back transitions are fabricated and measured where the measurement results are in good agreement with the simulation results.
