Eventually, we still understand the core of knowledge management is not only dealing with the existing document or database in an organization, the most important is the non-structured, non-documented, and implicit knowledge, hiding in an individual brain, are the most important components in the process of promoting knowledge management. This implicit knowledge could be obtained from interactions and deep dialogues from people. Therefore, communities of practice which leads staffs from different departments or fields to exchange their professional knowledge have become the new focus of knowledge management.
However, the outcome which promotes community of practice does not meet with what it is expected. The situation is it often confronts crises of stagnancy or low energy, and results in an end in the halfway. For example, only a few communities can develop into an innovative value from the sixty some communities of IBM in the global. How to make communities develop without any obstruction?
There are no satisfied methods in an academic or business field. Therefore, this research is worth to explore how to make knowledge community develop and grow in order to achieve the goal of knowledge innovation. This research based on the viewpoints of community management explores how to facilitate the development of community and devises the appropriate community development and problem-solving in order to help the growth of community.
This main methodology of this research is the system display method. It uses a professional interview and an action research when the system is examined. From this research, I get some conclusions. Firstly, this system which provides the suggestion about the planning and managing community activity benefits administrators to arrange community activity systematically. Secondly, these dynamic statistic information and evaluation questionnaires which this system provides benefit the administrators to understand the operation and development of community more objectively and realistically in order to clear obstacles away and make it operate smoothly. Thirdly, this system can accumulate actually community operation experience to be the basis of decision-making and reference.
This research has three points for suggesting further research. Firstly, the devise of the operation mode of community should consider planning distinctive development activities and evaluation principles based on its distinctive characteristics. Secondly, the future research could explore more about an evaluation indicator of community efficacy to make the detailed classification and exploration about different interfaces. Thirdly, in order to make the mode theoretically and practically, we could use community operation mode of this research to make a deeper action research through continuous reflection, feedback, and modification focused on a selective community.
